Not only has Lorde won 10 awards and released a best-selling number 1 album at the age of just 17, she's now releasing her own limited edition collection with MAC. The New Zealand singer-songwriter revealed in March that she was collaborating with MAC and anyone could have guessed it would be oozing with dark shades and excessive amounts of black...we weren't wrong!!

Lorde's statement makeup has come to attention since she came to the scene. Her ghostly pale skin, winged eyeliner, bold eyebrows and particularly her dark shades of lipstick are just as edgy as her music..and we love it. It's not a surprise that Lorde has carried her signature look into her new collection. Revealing a dark plum lipstick titled 'Pure Heroine' (named after her debut album) and a Penultimate eyeliner in rapidblack no doubtly capable of producing cat eyes as dark and as sharp as her own. The lipstick will be listed for $16 while the eyeliner will be $19.50.
Lorde has been a fan of MAC for a while. 'I have loved MAC Cosmetics since I was a little kid' she told The Cut in March. She describes MAC as having 'a very clear aesthetic' telling us that she bought her very first MAC lipstick at the age of 14, 'Snob'. This hasn't sufficed as she still wears MAC 'pretty much every day and night'.
MAC isn't only daring to go dark with Lorde, they revealed earlier this year that they will be releasing another limited edition collection inspired by Disney's Maleficent. Embracing shades of black, brown and even another statement lipstick in blood red this is something that isn't seen often so close to Summer. Washing out the usual bright bold colours often used in Spring/Summer makeup is exciting. I don't know about you but I am looking forward to seeing how this develops, being a fan of darker shades. Who knows? Maybe girls will be walking down the beach looking like they could break into 'Royals' at any moment or transform into a dragon like Maleficent, all while sporting an all-black bikini (of course).
